Showdown is a film and tv incubator competition organized by Showdown, a not for profit organization who works in conjunction with Screen Collective, another not for profit organization, to promote the film/tv industry for locals on the Sunny Coast. Sunny Coast residents submit their scripts or treatments and 6 winners are chosen by a panel of judges. The winning scripts are then produced using local Sunny Coast Cast and Crews.
We work with established industry professionals as well as students looking to start their career in the film industry, and people who are either up-skilling or entering into the film/tv industry as a career change. At Day 2 of ShowFest, the Showdown Showcase, all projects made from the competition are viewed, judged and the winner of the best project of Showdown 24 wins best in show and goes home with the coveted Golden Yewwy.
The Sunny Coast Showdown organisers acknowledge the traditional custodians and Elders past, present and emerging, of the Kabi Kabi peoples and the Jinibara peoples on which we work and live. We further acknowledge, thank and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the multitude of Indigenous Nations across Australia upon where our concerts and events take place. Always was, always will be. Showdown proudly supports diversity and inclusion
