1. Submissions must be the original work of the writer(s), and/or all rights must be wholly owned by the writer(s).
2. Must be written in English (English translations must be provided where applicable)
3. Submissions must be in PDF format.
4. Submissions are only accepted electronically through our website or partnerwebsites. We do not accept hardcopy submissions by mail.
5. Submitted in the correct film script format, to the best of your ability (See Screen Australia,Australian Writer’s Centre for examples). Free Screenwriting Software.
6. Open to Sunshine Coast residents only, over the age of 16 years old. If the project is a collaboration SC resident/s must own 50%+ of the project.
7. Scripted entires must be submitted in an industry standard format.
8. Principal subjects of documentaries must understand the documentary proposal, and their role and be willing to sign a release document allowing filmmakers and Showdown to show and distribute film.
9. Screenplays, treatments and pitch decks must be unpublished and unproduced.
10. You can submit as many projects as you would like to while paying a fee for each submission. These fees are not refundable.
11. Your submission must not violate any laws of Australia.
12. You must make yourself available for your scheduled shoot dates. Or be onboard with the piece being produced without you. Dates will fall between July 15 and July 25
13. Submissions are accepted from 9:00 am, April 15 to 5:00pm April 26. Australian Eastern Standard Time.
14. The Sunny Coast Showdown may use your project or extraction of your projects to promotethe Showcase and future Sunny Coast Showdowns. Showdown retains the rights to publish your project on its website and social accounts 12 months after initial delivery.
15. Submissions must be received on February 12, 2024, Australian Eastern Standard Time and the entry payment of $250 must be made in full at the time of submission.
16. Scripts submitted to other competitions or contests are eligible.
17. Judges, mentors, and organisers of the Sunny Coast Showdown are not eligible to submitprojects.
18. ShowdownMAX aims to create commercially viable content and as partial/total financier of the project will have first right of refusal to produce/distribute/monetize and share in back end profit. Please see doc X for details on this and note profits will go towards future Showdown/ShowdownMAX projects.
19. The Sunny Coast ShowdownMAX production team and the organising committee exclusively retain the rights to manage the production budget and creative elements (that impact the budget) of your project. This encompasses decisions related to the script, casting, direction, cinematography,editing, and any other creative aspects of the project’s production.
20. The Sunny Coast ShowdownMAX, its judges, and/or its officers accept no liability whatsoever for any claims of damages, real or perceived, by any entrant as a result of their participation in the competition.
21. By entering the Sunny Coast ShowdownMAX, you hereby accept these rules.
